Posts Record Year in 2002
Two new plants opened, and main
factory updated.
|
While the
effects of a global recession was definitely felt by both manufacturers,
and suppliers, some aspects of the industry remained positive. Shoda
reported record machinery sales in the Asian, and Australian markets,
more than offsetting sluggish sales in North America.
One benefit of not being reliant upon one or two markets, is that
there is always a potential for growth. It is no secret that the Asian
market is rapidly expanding, as it has been for the past decade. Most
international machinery builders have some vested interest and business
developments in China, and Southeast Asia. It would be disastrous
not too.
To meet the demands from Asian manufacturers, Shoda Iron Works has
opened two manufacturing facilities in China. These factories produce
only for this market, and are not exported to Europe, North, and South
America. |
| To meet one
of the most important demands of US manufacturer, lower price, Shoda
has streamlined their Hamamatsu, Japan manufacturing facilities, where
the machines for the North American market are produced. After 51
years in the same building, the doors where closed, and Shoda relocated
to a newer, state-of-the-art facility, also in Hamamatsu. |
